Thanks For What We Have – Music Performance at the Orphanage

I remember in the middle of 2007. We have coordinate for a music performance. The musisian are the ‘street kids’ in Jakarta. This music performance was gather to raise fund for these street kids to have a year house rent. For them the house is vey important. For a save living place. Rather than they live bellow the bridge, sidewalk of the street, feel cool of the weather, and direct sun burn. The music performance was success. They have fund to rent a year house.

After that, some of the street kids sometimes visit to our home. I really happy when they came. Because they always bring their music instrument, so than we can sing songs. Or I can gather little children in the neighbourhood to sing together with us. We’re all feel happy and cheerful.

In the end of year 2007 i teach a free yoga class for the orphanage in Serpong, Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia. Not for the children orphanage, but for the sisters who take care the children. Almost a month have a class there. I always see the children n sometimes play with them aftetr the yoga class. They need love and care from people who visit them. Seems from their eyes. Sometimes i can’t stay to look at their eyes & my eyes just flow tears. Our Elders said that from looking at the eyes, we could be in love, right? Yes. I’m in love with them. Than the question from my mind raise : How can I make them cheerful? Because they just toddler, not enough age for a yoga lesson. This question following me until i return home.

Suddenly at the house, i remember our musician friends. Quite long they have’t come to our house. After thinking our musician friends, 2 days after that, suddenly they came. Ah! What a great connection here.

I tell them about the situation i face. I tell that these children at the orphanage need something to be entertain, to make them happy, cheerful. Our musician friends never realize that they live on the street for years but still there’re children who suffer like them, even could be more. No parents, less love & feel these feeling when they’re little children.

“We should thanks for what we have”, our musician friends said. Yes! This is a great spirit for all of us. A spirit to make a small music performance for these special orphanage children. We give what we have. We create music that we can create. Share our love by very simple thing.

Than i came to the management of the orphanage. They like with our plan. They give us time, that is a week from it to have music performance in the afternoon with all the orphanage children. We’re happy to hear that.

A week of music rehearsal was enough for us to find some children songs. We practices in our home. We using guitar, jimbe (African traditional drum), violin & vocal to sings, all only 5 persons including me. Because our musician friends push me to sings with them. I never sing for a performance, except in the bathroom. Ha ha ha. But i accept this idea, for these children.

At the D day, in the afternoon. The children just gather in a hall. The same hall where i used to give yoga lesson for the sisters here. So many children, around 30’s. With the sisters also, around 10. So total all of us were 50.

Well, this is it. The music plays….so nice at the beginning. Than turn into cheerful music make the children sing and dance as they able to move their body everywhere. The sisters also join the dance. Laughing & smile we see on their faces. At the end of the last songs, the children and the sisters just making a long train chain. Together walked at inside of the hall, go to the right and to the left, so happy. We’re all so unite here. We feel their happiness. We feel happy & cheers also. So wonderful feeling we have. Until the last songs finished, the applause rise from all of the us.

But poor…we don’t have the music performance pics here. Because all of us was be the music players. None can’t take the picture. So here i have only an old picture taken from my other music performance (in 2003 with professional music friends), when i was study university in Central Java. But here, i share the music recording when we do rehearsal we share. Sorry if the recording is not enough quality because we record it by simple recording, only the handphone recording & never edit it. But, hopefully the reader still have the connection here.

2 years after that moment. This beautiful memory still in my mind & my heart. Thanks for our musician friends. Keep your music make people happy. Create your songs, your colors for people around you. For the people, the nature, the world. Thanks for the orphanage children. Without them, we’re all maybe nor realize to thanks what we have. Love you all.

Orbs & Light Beings in Ancient Tribes, Java-Indonesia

Our team just visited one of the ancient tribe in Java-Indonesia. As usual, we visit there to collecting the data of culture, history & spiritual wisdom by the Elder there. An elder, which is one of the chief on the tribe, became our guide. His son also accompany our journey there.

The journey was amazing. Even only 3 days being there. We just like entering into another dimention. And when the journey finish, we feel like new born human being. We got the data, the wisdom from the Elder & also the beautiful pictures show some light beings.

Asanas Yoga. Healthy & Happy of Body & Soul

The Origin of Asanas Movement

The understanding of asanas in Yoga is the postures of body or certain body movements. These movements formerly inspired by various available things in nature. Some asanas inspired by the cat writhes, the frog hop, dog straightening standing, flower beautifully blossom, the firm of huge tree at forest, lotus flower upon a pool, the wind blows nicely, wave at ocean, shining of the sun, calm moon, stars blinking, and all the things provided by the nature.

Hence the asanas that we do in Yoga class, feels really natural, cozy, and doesn’t feel pain. This make asanas Yoga can be done by baby, child, teenager, and adult. The movement of asanas adjusted by each age who does it.

Besides Body & Brain, Man Has Soul

In our daily activities we could forget our soul. Routine activities are physical routine work which already remembered by our brain. Almost the same path everyday life. We become like robot that have some programs which doing same things. Robotic-man. Is that we are?

Man has body, mind and soul. How we realize that we have soul? Yoga is one of the way. Doing Yoga routinely, as we go out from everyday routine activities (business, work, school and education, etc), which actually “ indispensable by the soul ”. Soul even wants to be feel by our body, by our mind. The soul peripheral which is body & brain need momentary hush. Soul wants to be remembered by body and brain.

Feel the Soul with Our Body Movements

In my Yoga class, I give some asanas. Participants follow it technically. This is the  phase at  the early meeting, the technic. After the asanas movements are good technically, I continue to do asanas by feel it with our soul. Try to feel the movements.

The air we breath, inhale and exhale. Feel our breath nicely. Then combine our breath and our body movements. This combination if we do nicely and deeply, we could realize we move not only our body. There’s something inside that flow, move, energize our body naturally and comfort. That is when we feel our soul.

Each participant could reach different level of consciousness. Some can feel the body and breath movement easily and comfortable. Some can feel there’s energy flow around their body. Some get difficeult to do the asanas because the stiff body as a result from hours at office lies is in front the computer. Some can do the asanas technicallhy but still need harmonize the breath. Some with fun laughing themself see their own movement  are quite funny. Some get difficulty because the illness they have.

The most important we need is : our openness in doing these movements. Doesn’t matter we’re fat, skinny, too old, still teenager, or whatever our feeling inside us, get it all away from us. Be free! Be Happy & Joy! Because our Soul wants to be happy, cheer, joy. Soul is happy. Soul is Free. Soul is Joy. This would open the difficulty from the stiff body movements, closed mind, and bad feeling. The cells in our body become happy and than can be healthy.

The participants which do routine Yoga, having great development. It is seen from the balance of body, body flexibility, greater imunity, and the harmony among breathing and movement. So healthy situation & happy can be reached by our body and soul .

Indoor & Outdoor Yoga

In early meeting, I take the participant do indoor yoga. At indoor comfortable class. This is required, to focus on the material and fully experience their asanas. After each participant can control n feel their movements & breath in a great harmony,  they can also harmonize with other pasticipants. This stage required to form foundation of self and forms a steady & firm group class.

If those has been reached, I bring the class to do Yoga outdoor, in nature. Yoga outdoor will take us more free, more energy, and practice us to unite with nature.

We just can go to the nearest place, which is the city park. At the city park, there are some big trees, clear air and feel cozy, not crowded. This place is quite good place to do ourdoor Yoga.

We also can go to hot mineral spring water at the mountain. To feel deeper the nature. Or we can also do outdoor Yoga at sea shore! The material of Yoga outdoor is almost the same with yoga indoor. Time needed only around one hour. But at the end of class, we can do meditation and than take a bath at the hot spring mineral water or the beach.

Senior Yoga participants group which I can see their development. While this class do the asanas movements with breathing already harmony, we feel that the trees around us also moving following our movements. Some flowers become so fragrance, we can smell it more. The soiled insect rattling. The wind blows on us and around the environtment. This harmonic situation just created among our participants yoga and the nature environment which moving following us, joy feeling and smooth. Bamboo, grove, leaves, water at the pool, sea water, the waves, the flowers are become one. This is one of Yoga meaning: unite, that we can experience. Unite with with the nature.
